Applications

     Self Cleaning Surfaces

Companies such as Pilkington, PPG and Cardinal have developed coatings of TiO2 for keeping window glass clean. Similar ideas have been used in Japan for clean buildings, clean lighting systems in tunnels, and even clean concrete highways.

We too have been involved in this area particularly with respect to transparent TiO2 films for windows prepared by sol-gel techniques. We have also been developing newer means of applying these systems as well as placing these films on a variety of different surfaces.

SolarKleen, is developing delivery systems that can be used to directly apply these self -cleaning coatings which can be applied to a variety of surfaces. Shown at the bottom right is a laboratory comparison of our coatings with that of commercial products.
